Launching in March 2018, Witness (http://witnessperformance.com) is a new curated website for critical discussion of the performing arts, founded by Alison Croggon and Robert Reid. Witness will provide rigorous critical essays and reviews on the performing arts, with an emphasis on fostering community and dialogue.
We’re seeking an emerging First Nations critic based in Melbourne to intern with Witness throughout 2018.
The First Nations Intern will work as part of the core Witness team. They will be responsible for writing a review or essay once a month that reflects on an aspect of performance culture. Alison Croggon and Robert Reid will provide mentoring to help develop and focus critical skills.
The internship includes a stipend of $5000 over ten months.
Applicants are asked to send a one page (A4) application letter in which they outline their experience and ambitions. Please include full contact details, including phone number, and attach up to ten pages of your writing. (The work sample doesn’t have to be about performing arts, and it doesn’t matter whether it is published or not).
The applications will be judged by Alison Croggon, Robert Reid and Jacob Boehme, Creative Director of YIRRAMBOI First Nations Arts Festival.
Send inquiries and applications to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Applications close at 5pm on December 20, 2017. The First Nations Critical Intern will be announced when Witness launches in March 2018.
