Bryan Andy is a Yorta Yorta man from Cummeragunja who identifies as gay. He is a writer, broadcaster and dramaturg. His work has been published by Lonely Planet, ABC Online, NITV, The Guardian and Meanjin. He has been an actor with Melbourne Workers Theatre/Malthouse Theatre. Bryan recently refined his love and purpose in theatre as the Aboriginal Cultural Dramaturg on Anthem, written by Andrew Bovell, Patricia Cornelius, Melissa Reeves and Christos Tsolkias, with music by Irine Vela - presented at the 2019 Melbourne Festival and the 2020 Sydney and Perth Festivals. Bryan’s passion for theatre was sparked when he saw his Aunty Pauline Whyman perform in the inaugural Ilbijerri Theatre season of Stolen (1998).
