This month we have a treat: Robert Reid talks to actor, theatre maker and performer Yoni Prior about her work with Barrie Kosky’s first company, Gilgul. Formed in 1990, Gilgul was Australia’s first professional Jewish company. The theatre it produced, from The Dybbuk to The Operated Jew, is now legendary, and was hugely influential on subsequent Australian performance.Yoni Prior remains one of the most unforgettable actors we’ve seen. The company included many notable names – among them, designer Peter Corrigan, writer/performers Tom Wright and Louise Fox and Michael Kantor, subsequently artistic director of the Malthouse. Kosky, of course, went on to international acclaim, and is now running the Komische Oper Berlin.
