Thanks Rob! It was frustrating because it wasn’t the only one to do that, and pushed me to articulate a long-time frustration I’ve felt reading other reviews of other work as well.

That is a great essay Jean and I hope it gets out there and shared widely for discussion. The limitations of these categorisations makes several writers I’m working with at the moment anxious about using anything at all from their ‘diverse’ backgrounds for this very issue of the way it will be judged and seen and boxed in. It’s behoven on all of us to properly engage our imaginations and thinking on these issues and catch ourselves out. Much to consider here.
